SACC¹ has a note that Pitelka has described the behavior of this genus as Emberizidae-like.

Chlorospingus was formerly treated as a genus in the family Thraupidae; however, SACC¹ places this genus as INCERTAE SEDIS; Clements has already put them in the family Emberizidae and the Opus follows.
