Genus: Cinclosoma

[edit] Description

Quail-thrushes from Australia and New Guinea.
These are shy, elusive terrestrial birds. Their longest primary is P8, the rictal bristles are much reduced.

[edit] Taxonomy

Cinclosoma is a genus in the family Eupetidae.
The three desert species are closely related and their taxonomy is still in much debate. They are also closely related to the Jewel-babblers from New Guinea.
If the Malaysian Rail-babbler would be placed in its own family, this genus would be included in Cinclosomatidae.
