This is a very distinctive Sparrow-Lark. The adult male has a pure white patch on its crown (this varies in size between individuals).

Endemic to NE Africa, occuring in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and Southern Sudan.

[edit] Taxonomy

Eremopterix signatus has two subspecies:[1]

  • E. s. signatus
  • E. s. harrisoni
  • South-eastern Sudan to north-western Kenya (west of Lake Turkana)

Arid plains, often near water holes.
