14cm. Buff upperparts and head, paler underparts, chestnut shoulder patches, lemon throat, buff and brown wings, dark iris, grey bill.

From Turkey to India and Pakistan

[edit] Taxonomy

Two subspecies are recognized, xanthocollis and transfuga. Some authorities place this species in genus Gymnoris.

Chestnut-shouldered Petronia was split from Yellow-throated Petronia and Yellow-spotted Petronia.

Forest and open scrub.

They nest in tree hollows.
