Distribution

endemic to Sulawesi including Lembeh Island. South East Asia: Indonesia: Greater Sundas.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Formerly this species and Sangihe Lilac Kingfisher were considered one species under the name of Lilac-cheeked Kingfisher.

Habitat

A variety of Forest up to 1000 m asl.

Status

Classified as Near-Threatened in the 2008 IUCN Red List1.
