50cm, including a long tail. Grey above spotted with brown, brown streaked with silver head, erectile crest, neck and breast, white underparts heavily streaked with brown, thick bright yellow bill, white wing bar shown in flight. Sexes are identical; immatures have a black woolly head without silver streaking.

Open woodland.

[edit] Behaviour

It builds a platform nest in a tree and 2-3 eggs are laid.

The diet includes fruit, especially figs, seeds and other vegetable matter.
