Part of the DePue / Donnely wildlife area managed by IL DNR, DePue Lake provides convenient viewing from the village park in DePue, IL.

The winter ice break will produce 100 Bald Eagles. American White Pelicans (spring and fall), Great Blue Herons, white egrets, numerous and various duck, geese, grebe, cormorants, etc. Water fowl abound.

Several species of hawks are also frequently observed.

Less frequent observation of Belted Kingfisher, Pileated Woodpecker, etc.
