Placed in genus Diglossopis by some authorities.
There are 2 subspecies:
- Eastern slope of Andes of south-western Colombia (Narino) and eastern Ecuador
- South-eastern Peru (JunĀ”n) to yungas of western Bolivia (La Paz and Cochabamba)
