Dendrocygna eytoni

[edit] Identification

It is a tall bird with a long neck. Its face and foreneck are light, the hind neck and crown are pale brown, the upper back is brown. The breast is chestnut and has black bars. Its bill is pink and grey; the feet and legs are pink. The sexes are alike.

This bird feeds at night on grasses and seeds. Flocks are formed during the day. 10-12 white eggs are laid.
