19-21cm.

  • Slate grey head, neck and breast
  • Cream belly
  • Small white spots on shoulders
  • Rusty primary flight feathers with grey edges
  • Dark grey outer tail feathers
  • Pink legs and feet
  • Orange red iris
  • Red eye ring

  • Browner head, neck and upperparts
  • Smaller eye ring

The diet includes grass seeds.

The nest is woven from grasses and twigs. 2 white eggs are laid and incubated for 13-14 days; the young fledge 2 weeks later.
