Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.

[edit] Taxonomy

Five subspecies recognized:

• W. p. poecilinotus in southern Venezuela, the Guianas and northeast Brazil
• W. p. duidae in eastern Colombia, southern Venezuela and northwest Brazil
• W. p. lepidonota in southeast Colombia, eastern Ecuador and northeast Peru
• W. p. griseiventris in southeast Peru, northern Bolivia and southwest Amazonian Brazil
• W. p. gutturalis in northeast Peru and western Amazonian Brazil

Was formerly included in Scale-backed Antbird together with Xingu Scale-backed Antbird.
Formerly placed in genus Hylophylax.

Moist lowland forests.

[edit] Behaviour

Follows army ant swarms, but generally not found near the center of the swarm

They build cup shaped nests.
