[edit] Overview

Drohiczyn lies 120 km directly east of Warsaw. It is the ancient capital of the Podlasie region. It lies on the River Bug, one of Poland's largest rivers. As with many Polish rivers it is unregulated, meaning that spring brings floods to the surrounding meadows and the place becomes a haven for wildlife.

[edit] Notable Species

The region is rightly famous for its bird life. There are many species which are common such as the ubiquitous white storks, buzzards, marsh harriers and herons. Cranes are relatively easy to locate here between April and September. It's not uncommon also to find Hoopoe and Black Stork
