Apus sladeniae

Contents

[edit] Identification

[edit] Distribution

West Africa. Found in Nigeria, Cameroon, Bioko (Fernando Po) and Angola. Birds in Liberia may belong to this species. Some authorities think that only birds from Bioko belong to this species, leaving the birds from the other parts of its range to the African Swift Apus barbatus.
Very local and not much data exists about the population.

[edit] Taxonomy

Regarded as conspecific with African Swift Apus barbatus by some authorities.
Probably monotypic. Only a handful of records and specimen, so more study needed.
