Identification

Distribution

Endemic to the Philippines.

Taxonomy

Eight subspecies recognized:

  • F. l. calayensis on Calayan (Philippines)
  • F. l. luzoniensis on Luzon and Mindoro (Philippines)
  • F. l. rara on Palawan (southwest Philippines)
  • F. l. nigrorum on Negros (Philippines)
  • F. l. malindangensis in the southern Philippines (Mount Malindang region of northwest Mindanao)
  • F. l. daggayana in northern Mindanao (southern Philippines)
  • F. l. montigena in the Mountains of central Mindanao (southern Philippines)
  • F. l. matutumensis on Mount Busa and Mount Matutum, south central Mindanao (Philippines)

Formerly considered conspecific with Snowy-browed Flycatcher.
