- Brownish-grey crown, nape and sides of face
- White supercilium
- Black sub-moustachial stripe
Distribution
Arizona-Mexico border south locally to western Mexico.
Taxonomy
Was formerly placed in genus Aimophila.
Subspecies
Polytypic: two subspecies are recognized[1]:
- A. q. septentrionalis:
- A. q. quinquestriata:
- Arid western Mexico (northern Jalisco)
Habitat
Arid plains, thick desert scrub, tropical deciduous woodland.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of seeds, fruit and insects, including caterpillars, moths and grasshoppers.
