South America: Endemic to Venezuela

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • G. g. tachirae:
  • Andes of western Venezuela (north-eastern Táchira)
  • G. g. griseonucha:
  • Andes of western Venezuela (eastern Mérida)

Habitat

Humid montane forest, usually seen between 2300–2800 m.

Behaviour

Hops on the ground

Diet

Little is know about what they eat, but thought to be insects and worms.
