[edit] Site InformationThe mouth of the Piscataqua River is where the estuary begins. Salt water from the Atlantic ocean is brought in with the tides. There are five different habitats in the estuary that are dominated by water--Eelgrass meadows, mudflats, salt marsh, channel bottom, and rocky intertidal. In the Discovery Center children can learn about plankton, salmon migration, tides, and salt marsh farming. They can also do some hands-on exploration in the touch tank.
