- Glossy black narrow forehead band, side of head, chin and throat

- Black bill, dusky legs
Females and juveniles undescribed.
 Similar species
Pygmy Cuckoo-shrike has white underparts and is much smaller.
Endemic to Halmaher in the Northern Moluccas, Indonesia.
Poorly known restricted-range species. Seems to be local and uncommon.
This is a monotypic species.
It's sometimes placed in genus Celebesia.
Has been treated as subspecies of Sunda Cuckoo-shrike or Wallacean Cuckoo-shrike.
Primary and selectively logged forest. Occurs at 100 - 900m.
Feeds probably on insects.
Often seen on exposed perches from where it sallies.
No information about breeding.
