Also called the Koloa.

50cm. Mottled brown, dark tail, dark green head and neck. Orange legs and feet. Olive green bill in males, dull orange in females.

Lowland wetlands, river valleys, and mountain streams.

[edit] Behaviour

Diet includes freshwater vegetation, mollusks, insects, and other aquatic invertebrates.

Nests are lined with feathers and 2-10 eggs are laid.
