ViewsHenderson Bird Viewing PreserveFrom Opus
[edit] OverviewBy far the best site was the closest (less than 30 minutes from the Las Vegas airport!) Henderson Bird Preserve at the Henderson water treatment facility). Not very scenic (a sewage plant) and has limited hours -check website but much better birds than Wetlands Park and also better than Desert National Wildlife Refuge) or Red Rock Canyon. Henderson requires minimal hiking and is handicapped accessible for those less mobile. It is a series of 10 ponds with gravel paths [edit] Birds[edit] Notable SpeciesTo do Saw the following there in one very hot hour in the afternoon on April 17 (would be better in the morning I'm sure). Mallard 8, Cinnamon Teal 2, Bufflehead 1, Common Goldeneye 7, Ruddy Duck 13, Gambel's Quail 5, Eared Grebe 21, Common Moorhen 2, American Coot 42, Black-necked Stilt 13, American Avocet 13, Franklin's Gull 1, Ring-billed Gull 21, Great-tailed Grackle 20, Brown-headed Cowbird 3.
