• Brown upperparts
• White or pale buff supercilium
• Dark eyestripe
• Greyish-white chin and throat
• Buffy breast
• Pale yellow belly and flanks
• Small, very fine bill (dark above, pinkish below)
• Dark brown iris
• Pinkish-brown feet
• Short tail

Asia: China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Eastern and Western Himalayas, Bhutan and Taiwan
Southeast Asia: Indochina and Myanmar.

Placed in genus Horornis by Gill and Donsker.

There are three subspecies.¹

• C. a. acanthizoides

• Himalayas

• C. a. brunnescens

• Tsangpo Valley, southeastern Tibet - sometimes split as Hume's Bush Warbler

• C. a. concolor

• Mountains of Taiwan

Tall grassy areas and dense bamboo thickets; forests.

Its nest is a ball or deep cup made from dry grass, leaves, moss, spider webs, and feathers, placed low in a bush or thick undergrowth.
