Syrmaticus humiae

Location: Doi Angkang, Chiangmai, Thailand

[edit] Identification

90cm long, greyish brown head, bare red facial skin, chestnut brown plumage, yellowish bill, brownish orange iris, white wingbars and metallic blue neck feathers. The male has a long greyish white, barred black and brown tail. The female is a chestnut brown bird with whitish throat, buff color belly and white-tipped tail.

• S. h. humiae - extreme ne India and n Myanmar
• S. h. burmanicus - SW China (sw Yunnan) to Myanmar and nw Thailand

Montane forests.

[edit] Behaviour

The diet consists mainly of vegetation matters.

The nest is made of leaves, twigs and feathers and 3-12 cream-white eggs are laid.
