23-27 cm long and weighs about 42 g. White eye ring, orange bill and red legs. Crimson face, black chin, unmarked green upperparts and white underparts, pink patch on the breast, chocolate brown undertail. The female has a dull purple face with a dark chin. The underparts are green with a white belly and cinnamon undertail. Threatened Species.

Southern Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei and the Indonesian islands of Kalimantan, Sumatra and Java.

Mangrove swamps and lowland rainforests.

The nest is made of twigs, roots and grasses by the female. 1-2 white eggs are laid and incubated for 20 days. Fledging occurs after a further 12 days.

Diet includes fruit.
