23 cm (9 in)
Male

  • Dark blue upperparts
  • Blue crown and edges of upper wing-coverts and flight feathers
  • Purplish-blue underparts
  • Black iris, bill and legs

Female duller blue above and dark brown below.
Immature dull blue upperparts with brown wing-coverts, fawn underparts, speckled dark brown.

Mountains of west and central Java.

This is a monotypic species[1].

Montane rainforests at heights around 900–3000 m.

Their main diet consists of fruit and berries.
