Overview
Lonsdale Road Local Nature Reserve, known also as the Leg O' Mutton, is a site created from an old reservoir. Between the reservoir and the Thames is an extensive woodland area which is readily accessible from the site through gates provided.
Areas of reedbeds have been created and there are many 'rafts' to encourage the nesting of birds.

I usually visit this site for a few hours before the WWT London opens as it is open at all times. At weekends there can be quite a few joggers although they seem to be courteous and considrate at most times.

Access and Facilities
There are no toilets or hides. Some benches are provided, usually at good viewing points. The site can be a little muddy during the winter months but nothing too serious.
There are some shops, close by in Verdun Road, should you need to purchase some lunch!
