In Nov. 2005 I spent a week trekking in northern Laos. I saw very few birds. The local people hunt them heavily, and the trekking guides are not trained for birding. Visit for a cultural experience (and a great one, I might add), but not for birding. When not trekking, stay at The Boat Landing in Luang Nam Tha. It is delightful.
