Africa between 7°N and 9°S. Extreme south-eastern Nigeria to north-western Angola and Uganda⁵.

Sibley & Monroe⁴ and Dickinson² include the endangered Braun's and Gabela Bushshrikes in this taxon; Clements¹ and Gill & Wright³ consider them separate species, L. brauni and L. amboimensis respectively.
