Length 13-14 cm. A small lark with a short bill and white outer-tail feathers (latter obvious in flight).

Northern Africa and southern Asia.

Mirafra cantillans has four subspecies:

  • M. c. marginata
  • M. c. chadensis
  • M. c. simplex
  • M. c. cantillans
