Moorea is an island in French Polynesia, part of the Society Islands, northwest of Tahiti.

There is problem with Miconia calvescens. Birdlife is very rare, but there are some interesting birds. Sandy beaches are very rare, but spectacular mountains views especielly near ferry point, Opohune bay and Cook bay. There are nice coral reefs.

In Opohune Bay, in front of the supermarket, breeded Brown Noddy in the palm trees (november) Brown Booby and Great Frigatebird, and Lesser Frigatebird can be seen from ferry Papeete - Moorea.

There are nice walks from viewpoint Bellevue (means good view). Gray Green Fruit dove, only few meters in the rainforest. Pycnonotus cafer appear sometimes.

There are also introduced birds like Chestnut-breasted Mannikin and very often Common Mynah.

45 minutes by ferry from Papeete.

Price level is extremely high. Accomodation are very rare and very expensive. Most of them located on the round island coast street. There are 3 camping places.
