Identification

11 cm
Male

  • Green below
  • Turquoise-blue crown
  • White undertail

Female

  • Green crown
  • White postocular spot
  • Grey ear-coverts
  • Grey underparts

Immature is similar to female

Distribution

Endemic to southern Mexico (Sierra de Miahuatlán of Oaxaca).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Highland forests.

Status

Classified as Endangered in the 2008 IUCN Red List2.
