South America: found in western Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]
- C. c. bourcieri:
- east slope of Andes in western Venezuela (on the Mérida–Barinas border); central Colombia (west slope of the Eastern Andes in Cundinamarca south to the head of the Magdalena Valley in Huila); east slope of Eastern Andes of Colombia (north to Caquetá) south to central Peru (south to Huallaga Valley in Huánuco)
- C. c. calliparaea:
- east slope of Andes of south central Peru (Pasco south to Apurímac Valley in western Cuzco)
- C. c. fulgentissima:
- Andes of south-eastern Peru (Puno) to western Bolivia
Habitat
Humid and wet mossy cloud forest and forest edges.
Behaviour
Diet
Their varied diet consists of small arthropods, fruit and small berries.
