- Buff supraloral area and ear-coverts
- Cinnamon forehead with olive-grey feather tips
- Dusky grey crown contrasting with olive-green upperparts
- Duskier wings and tail
- Two yellowish wingbars
- Whitish-buff throat
- Ochraceous-buff wash across breast
- Dull buffy chest
- Bright yellow belly, tinged olive on flanks
- Creamy undertail-coverts
- Broad, flat bill, relatvely small, upper mandible black, lower mandible pale purple
Sexes similar. Juvenils undescribed.
Distribution
South-east Colombia, eastern Ecuador, and northeast Peru.
Rare and local, but probably often overlooked in its small range.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Habitat
Found in middle levels, subcanopy and borders of várzea forest, below 400 m.
Gray-crowned Flycatcher occupies the canopy of the same forest type, Yellow-margined Flycatcher prefers terra firme forest and Olive-faced Flatbill is found in Cecropia-dominated river islands and second growth.

Feeds on insects. Forages usually singly, sometimes in mixed flocks.
