Discontinuous in Africa south of the equator: Congo, DRC and Tanzania, and south to eastern South Africa

Cisticola cinnamomeus was recently split from C. brunnescens (Pectoral-patch Cisticola); C. cinnamomeus is recognised as a separate species by Clements^[1], Dickinson ^[2], Gill & Wright^[3], Hockey et al.^[4] and Sinclair and Ryan^[5].
