Turdus obsoletus

[edit] Identification

Mostly warm brown above, slightly duller below, with contrasting white lower belly and vent. Throat slightly streaked dusky and bill brownish-black. Any eye-ring present is indistinct.

Costa Rica, Panama, (Caribbean side of the first two) Colombia, Ecuador (western in these two), and extreme north-west Peru.

[edit] Taxonomy

Three subspecies are recognized^[1]:

• T. o. obsoletus
• T. o. parambanus
• T. o. colombianus

[edit] Habitat

Likes humid forest. Mostly at mid elevation but migrates lower in the wet season in e.g., Costa Rica

[edit] Behaviour

Use branches for foraging, rarely on the forest floor.
