• Slender bill
• Large, powerful feet and legs
• Slate grey head
• Black on throat, forehead and crown sides
• Dark olive upperparts
• Black wings and tail with olive fringes
• Bright olive underparts
• Brown tint to flanks and lower belly

The female builds a cup shaped nest of plant material and 1-2 brown marked white or blue-white eggs are laid; incubation is done by the female for 12-14 days.
