[edit] Taxonomy

Two subspecies are recognized, jamesoni and rubrifrons; these two are sometimes considered two species and then the jamesoni will be Jameson's Antpecker while rubrifrons will be Red-fronted Antpecker.

Parmoptila rubrifrons (sensu lato) has previously been considered a race of Woodhouse's Antpecker.
