Identification

10–11 cm (4-4½ in)
Prominent pale eyebrow, whitish throat and cheek patch, streaked breast and flanks, yellow rump.

Distribution

East Africa: found from extreme south-eastern Sudan to southern Ethiopia, Somalia, north-eastern Uganda, Kenya, north-eastern Tanzania.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Placed in genus Serinus by Clements.

Habitat

Open woodland and fields.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of seeds from flowering plants and some insects.
