- Breast, rump and undereye stripe are lighter brown

Central and South America and the Caribbean
Central America: Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
Caribbean (West Indies): Greater Antilles, Lesser Antilles, Windward Islands, Leeward Islands, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Trinidad and Netherlands Antilles.
South America: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

The nest is an insubstantial platform on the ground or in a shrub. The clutch consists of 2 buff eggs.
They are ground feeders and the diet includes seeds and small invertebrates.
