- Psittacara brevipes
Identification
Mostly green overall with underside of flight feathers metallic yellow. Orbital skin is purple-brown (in some light may look reddish). Bill is pale horn, feet pale grey.
Distribution
Socorro Island. Endangered.
Taxonomy
Socorro Parakeet was recently split from Green Parakeet.
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Semi-deciduous forest, especially in higher elevation.
Behaviour
Moves around to find fruiting trees.
Nests in tree cavities.
Vocalisation
Described as high and screeching Kree-kree or kee-kee-kee
