Distribution
South America: found in the Andes of western Argentina (western Salta to Mendoza)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Moved to the genus Pseudasthenes in 2010.[1][2]
Habitat
Dry montane scrubby areas. Often seen in ravines.
Behaviour
Diet
Little has been recorded. The appear to forage on the ground and in low vegetation, presumably for arthropods and insects. The are usually seen alone or in pairs.
Vocalisation
This species seems to have two types of song.
