Identification
Male c210 cm (82¾ in), female c150 cm (59 in); Bold pattern, long, barred tail.

- White head
- Black mask
- Bright golden-chestnut body, with black scaling
- Orange-buff tail with black and white markings
Female: duller with buff face, dark eye-mask. Tail is shorter
Distribution
Asia: found in low altitude deciduous forests of north-central China
Introduced to parts of Europe.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
They are to be found in evergreen and deciduous woodland in low level mountain areas.
Behaviour
Diet
Their mostly vegetarian diet acorns, tubers, wild persimmons, legumes and seeds. They also eat some larvae and insects.
Breeding
The clutch consists of 7-14 eggs which is laid in April or May. The eggs are incubated for 24-25 days.
