Common Name: Red Pierrot

Identification
30-36 mm; hindwing tailed; blackish brown on upper with broad orange-red area on lower half of upper hind, in both sexes; under mainly white, with black spots and striking orange-red marginal band in underhind.
Distribution
India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and many parts of South-East Asia.

Habitat
- Seen in moist deciduous to evergreen forests as well as urban gardens.
- Fond of flowers.
Behaviour
- Slow fluttering flight close to ground.
- Preferred larval food plant is, Kalenchoe.
- Recently reported to have spread its range to North Indian Himalayan foothills
