Identification
Upperparts are mainly bright green with black spots. The face and throat have a blue-grey tinge while underparts are white with large black spots and the flanks are yellow-green with black spots.
Distribution
Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.
Taxonomy
This species has been placed in genus Tangara in the past.
Subspecies
Five subspecies are recognized[1]:
- I. p. punctata
- I. p. zamorae
- I. p. perenensis
- Tropical and subtropical e Peru (Chanchamayo region)
- I. p. annectens
- Subtropical southeast *I. p. (Río Inambari region)
- I. p. punctulata
- Yungas of norhtern Bolivia (La Paz and Cochabamba)
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and montanes.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects.
