14-15 cm. Red brown-grey above and pale below, black and white face pattern. The juvenile is reddish above and pale below.

Northern Africa from Western Sahara to Egypt, northern Arabian Peninsula and Iraq.

This species in monotypic1. The genus Eremophila only has three species, with Horned Lark and Dunn's Lark the other two.
