Identification

- Olive upperparts
- Yellowish underparts

Sexes similar; young birds are duller than adults.
Distribution
South-east Asia: found only in Sri Lanka.
It is quite readily found at sites such as Horton Plains and Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Highlands forests and wooded farmland.
Behaviour
Not shy. Usually found in pairs or in small flocks.
Diet
It feeds mainly on fruits and insects. Often seen in mixed species flocks.
Action
The flight is bouncing and woodpecker-like.
Breeding
The main breeding season is in February-May and the secondary breeding season is in August-October. Their nest is a stout mass of green moss with a deep well lined with fine rootlets or other fibers. It's placed in a bush. Two white or pink ground-colour eggs are measure about 23.4×16.7 mm.
