[edit] OverviewThis is an area of heather moorland in the south of the hilly Orkney island of Rousay and lies above Trumland House. The moors also contain a small lochan, some inland crags and several small valleys. [edit] Birds[edit] Notable SpeciesRed-throated Diver breeds on the lochan while Hen Harrier, Common Kestrel and Eurasian Golden Plover nest on the moors as well as four species of gull. Merlin, skuas and Short-eared Owl are usually present. Eynhallow Sound, between Rousay and mainland Orkney is a wintering site for Great Northern Diver and seaducks. [edit] Other WildlifeOrkney Vole is common on the reserve and Otters are occasional visitors.
