10-11 cm. Green, turquoise throat, violet blue untertailcoverts and a straight black bill, gold green upperparts and underparts, bue-green rump and uppertail coverts, blue-black forked tail. The females lacked the throat patches, its plumage was less light and the belly was more golden. It had strikingly leg-puffs of dense white downy feather tufts.
