South America: found in Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.

Formerly placed in genus Basileuterus.

[edit] Subspecies^[1]

There are 3 subspecies:

• M. b. roraimae:

• Tepuis of south-eastern Venezuela to Guyana and extreme northern Brazil

• M. b. bivittatus:

• Eastern Andes of south-eastern Peru (Cuzco) to western Bolivia

• M. b. argentinae:

• South-eastern Bolivia (south-western Santa Cruz) to north-western Argentina (Jujuy and Salta)

M. b. roraimae is sometimes split as Roraima Warbler^[2].
