Distribution
Brazil, Venezuela, and southern Colombia to Bolivia.
Taxonomy
Two subspecies are recognized: major and duidae.
It has traditionally been placed in the manakin family, but evidence strongly suggest it is better placed in Tityridae where now placed by SACC and Opus.
