11.5 cm. Olive-green upperparts, black wings with two yellow wing bars, yellow supercilium, interrupted white eye ring, white throat, pale yellow underparts, some olive on the flanks. Young birds are browner above and have very pale yellow underparts.

The diet includes spiders and insects gleaned from tree foliage, and small fruits.

Both sexes build a small cup nest is built in the fork of a small branch. 2 dark-spotted white eggs are laid and are incubated by both sexes who also feed the young.
